Fluocinonide is a prescription medication used to relieve the itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. Fluocinonide belongs to a group of drugs called topical corticosteroids which work by suppressing the over-active immune system.
Fluocinonide comes in ointment, gel, solution, and cream forms. It usually is applied to the affected area(s) 2 to 4 times a day.
Common side effects include skin burning, itching, and dryness.
